JUST IN TIME applied to clinical supplies : A SPECIFIC EXAMPLE
The Client : An international Big Pharma for which innovation and discovery are a key objective. This company currently manages over one hundred clinical trials.
The Challenge : Our client needs to optimize the allocation of its stock of a rare, expensive, low stability product used in 4 distinct studies with non predictable inclusion rates.
The packaging and the labeling of the common mentions, such as the program number for all 4 studies, have to be prepared first. Than, at receipt of each shipment demand, complementary labels with the study number have to prepared for final packaging and labeling before pharmaceutical release and shipment.
All these steps from packaging to shipment including pharmaceutical release have to be performed within a 72 hours lap's time of receipt of the shipment request.
The Solution : Creapharm implemented the just-in-time process bellow :
Creapharm completed successfully since the beginning of the study :
- the receipt of 4 batches and packaging of 4 runs for different dosage forms amounting to a total of several thousand therapeutical units (preparation phase),
- the labeling, packaging, pharmaceutical release and shipment of 520 patient kits within the 72H maximum time span,
- 130 shipments to investigational centers.
The Outcome : Our client obtained the most customized and adaptable clinical supply plan.
This company turned to Creapharm, the International clinical supplies specialist, and appreciated the total transparency, the team reactivity, the commitment, the expertise and the easy access to equipement and documentation.
These studies are still active and are conducted with success within the strict constraint to ship to the centers within 72 hours as ensured by full traceability.
